Nicolas Badel – Syrah IGP Collines Rhodaniennes
Deep red color. The nose reminds of a Mediterranean atmosphere: garrigue, violets, tapenade. In the mouth, the syrah is generous and warm. The wine is powerful but also very supple and soft tannins. Always fruity, such as black fruits, blackcurrant, blackberries. This could be described as a sunny Syrah. Great pairing with wild mushrooms or pigeons.
ABOUT THE ESTATE
Nicolas Badel, unlike his neighbors, does not come from a wine family. For seven years, he has been working as an engineer. One day, the will of working in a vineyard came over him. He then decided to change career paths and work in his cousin’s vineyard with his cousin Sylvain Badel. During two years, they kept their regular jobs, and work in the vineyard on the weekends. Nicolas starts planting his own vines in 2008 and makes his first wines in 2010, when he finally worked there full time. The estate spreads over 17 acres of vines in Vernosc, with Marsanne and Syrah, and also in Limony, with Viogner and Syrah, to produce white and red Saint-Joseph wines as well as Condrieu. Everything is grown organically.
